I think this album is not as good as the others because it is too soft and americanized.Ville´s voice does´'t seem very deep like in the other records.However i love UNDER THE ROSE and VAMPIRE HEART.Vampire heart makes me wonder about how a vampire could be in love and how could a person react to this kind of loveIt makes me think about winter days in London .Very dark.

I personally loved the album the sultry sounds of ville's voice almost totally made me have one in my pants...... oh yeah I said it! Any who the reason for my confusion is like every other person commenting on this album is bashing it, yet congratulating "H.I.M."on having great lyrics I'm just wondering did ya read off your comment before ya sent it off, did it make sense to you?????? Just curious

Good songwriting, some songs are a bit too pop-music-like in my taste. Could have used some more guitars.

Well,... in my opinion is their worst one... But... it's H.I.M.!!!!! However, I think it's the one with the greatest lyrics!!! Or is it "Venus Doom"??... I don't know...!!Anyway, I totally love it!!! Best tracks "Under the Rose" and "Play Dead"...

This album is just amazing but then i love all of HIMs music this one just helped me through some shit and i love it.

To be perfectly honest, this is my favourite HIM album, like, ever.
I just ordered the guitar tab for this album, so I'm trying to learn how to play all the songs.
But, yeah. I like every single song on the album.
And not to sound corny, the lyrics were inspiring for my own poetry.

this is a great album... most people say it is thier worst, i dont think so. yes it may have been way more mainstream than all the others, but look where it landed HIM in the US. its a gold record!!! what more could they ask for. and the songs are great...even wings of a butterfly...i bet if it was played 50% less on the radio when it came out, every one would love it. i used to go to sleep whit this album playin in my stereo every night for like 4 months straight. i love killing lonliness, drunk on shadows, vampire heart, and the nightside of eden, and i liked the bonus track The Cage... it is a very well put together album

Man i was a fan way before this album came out and alot of the older fans (like myself) seem to hate it... i think its an amazing album... so beautiful. i understand alot of fans think its alot more mainstream and to pop sounding but i belive it is musical gold. I love so many tracks on it, favs are vampire heart, under the rose, dark light and drunk on shadows... i like the fact that it made them bigger in other parts of the world. its just another beautiful chapter in the HIM book with hopfully many more to come!

i love all the songs i've heard so far...which is like all of them! but when i have school off the concerts are all in australia, and i live on pretty much the other side of the world which really sucks...but anyway i love HIM!

and as a result they make the worst album ever... great cover..says everything! says how crap it is!

This was the worst album ever... too much repetitive and commercial sounds...that sometimes reminded me some pop sound. They can make better than this. The albums from before were much better, more creative, with more power and great melody... they were more original!

Dark light is an album with a genre of it's own. It shows the vocal growth of Ville and the band as a whole. Many may see it as commercial hype. This album was made for the intelligent mind. It is music, and sounds like music! The symbolic meaning behind the songs are for intelletual people. People who don't understand what is being said acuse this album as being a hype. It is deep from within the soul. I find this album to be one of the best albums HIM has ever made to date. I wouldn't want love metal, or razorblade romance 7 times. This shows the band going for new things, and not being afraid to show it! People acuse bands of selling out, and it's just not that way, they have spiritual growth, and each album shows where they have been and where they are going. To the top!

Este album esta re joya como todos los de HIM, ¿no?. Los temas "Vampire Heart", "Behind the Crimson Door" y "Rip Out the Wings of a Butterfly" son mis favoritos, están re buenos. La verdad que todos las canciones estan buenisimas a mi me gustan todas.

i wouldn`t say that dark light is commercial cause I hate that word :) but the fact is that is much more "happier" then other albums. lyrics are always dark, same, but sometimes they don´t fit with the sound, the case in dark light is an example. whole product is not for every day listening. i get bored of listening it after 3 times. fortunately, venus doom is absolutely tuned.

After Love Metal, this was something new.I heard WOAB and i liked it, i rushed to store for album and after hearing it several times i realzed that it is not that great like others, too comercial I would say.
I like vampire heart but live version the most.
All songs are great but they are not timeless like for instance Join me, or older songs.

Don´t hate me, I am fan like you, DL is on the last place for me, but only because of music, lyrics are still great and amazing:)

First heard about 25 seconds of the end of "Wings of a butterfly" and spent the next 2 days surfing the channels to hear more. Finally got to see the whole video & heard about the webcite. Got to learn more found out about other albums & been hooked ever since. "Drunken Shadows" is my favorite song. I even have a tat, my first, about the words... Devils Dance while Angels smile..... The song talks about things I relate to and love the song with all my heart. I have all the albums, videos, and tons of Heartagram stuff. Recently bought the promotion bag from Lune festival in Germany on Ebay. Still have yet to see them live but no worries when its ment to happen it will, I'm sure of it....

I used this album to introduce a very close friend of mine to the band.I thik it was a good place to start for an american fan."Wings of a butterfly"(which is the title change of "rip out the wings of a butterfly on the American version,why?I don't know,I like the original title better!)got alot of radio play and MTV2 showed the video alot. "Vampire Heart" was featured on an MTV2 "Headbanger's Ball compilation(Your sweet 666 was featured on another one.)My favourite track is "Play dead"I relate to the lyrics in that song very much.This particular album had a lot of keyboard,which I enjoy quite a bit,I think Burton is AWESOME!I always listen to it from start to finish.DARK LIGHT IS ONE OF MY FAOURITE ALUMBS EVER!!!
