For You was the first HIM song to leave me awestruck. Only knowing a more alternative HIM through Razorblade Romance, For You took me by surprise. As I've interpreted it through my own experiences many times in various situations, it's truly the composition that blows me away. From the entrancing guitar twanging and dancing throughout the track, to the almost angelic backing vocals, Ville's deep and sensuous voice is provided an ideal environment. Morose yet determined, simple parts flow together, reaching an equally simple but powerful climax. Few words, little complexity, but it speaks volumes. It may not be my favorite HIM song of all time, as it would be impossible for me to choose. Still, I remember immediately recognizing the beauty in For You, an often overlooked treasure.
