VENUS DOOM REVIEW FROM BLOG CRITICS MAGAZINE

Hey,let's have another musical genre argument. You know, the one where a band is mis-labeled, followed by incensed fans and ProfessorsOfRockā„¢ coming back with any number of variations on "You idiot!" It's so much fun! Heck, back when I reviewed H.I.M.'s Dark Light, I was informed (without the 'idiot' part) that the band played "goth pop." So be it.

Truth be told, I don't really care what the proper label is because what really matters is this: does the music rock or not? "Yes, hard" is the answer.

Remeniscent of early 1970s

I thought this too. I used to listen to Hard (of heavy, or progressive) Rock before the term metal was invented and this takes me back to then.

Great review of great album!

"Hey, let's have another musical genre argument."
For some reason reading this line made me want to cry from laughing. xD

Best review I've read yet. I think I love that guy. I've always said no matter what you call the music, if it doesn't make you feel anything it's not worth being called music. And HIM definately has music that makes you feel.

What's weird for me is that I don't really head bang to HIM, only on some songs. Usually it's more of a swaying motion for me. Which looks ridiculous, might I add, but it feels right.

Loved it!

"Not only is Ville Valo a rare and true artist, but he is also a rare and true work of art. There is no one else like him, nor will there ever be another."

I truly loved this comment...maybe because it's what i think myself too.
And Venus Doom too is a piece of fine art!

I completely agree with the review. After reading the article, I've realized, I "react". I crank it up & just let the album wisk me away.

Venus Doom is heavier, rawer & I love it so very much. It truly is one of those rare releases that does make you react, it makes you feel. Then again, maybe its just me.

I personally think this cd showcases Ville's brilliance as a lyrical genius as well as proves the band doesn't really have a set path, they are able to do anything & do it with "style".

Reviews Shouldn't Matter

I feel that HIM's success isn't based soley on what the critics say. I believe it is all about the fans and how many albums they sale. They are what rock should be and take an original spin of what classic hard rock used to represent. They stick to music that rockers can dig and lyrics that people can feel. Goth, Metal, Rock, or Hard rock, it really doesn't matter to me. I am a fan of their music and I hope they continue making music as original as they are for many more years.

I agree with devilsgirl9. Everyone who loves HIM wouldn't mind anyway, because then they have never felt the music. I hope they will keep on doing their great music, 'cause they are doing a fantatic job. LOVE their music and always will
