VENUS DOOM RECEIVES A GRAMMY NOMINATION

Venus Doom has received a Grammy nomination for best boxed or special limited edition package! The Grammy winners will be announced on February 10, 2008. Congratulations to Matt Taylor, Ville, and the everyone that worked on the design on your nomination.

I Take It Back

I take back what i said before about wanting HIM to win. But before you all go beserk on me, here's why: The Grammy's are just a bunch of old music corporation people coming together to vote on which albums generated the most sales. The most talentless people manage to win Grammys only because their pathetic songs somehow became popular. It's just one big popularity contest for sell-out artists. HIM is too good for this. They are a real band with real talent and they deserve more than an award for "packaging". I mean, what the hell is that all about?! They deserve to be recognized for their songwriting, not their box set. And even if they were nominated in a main category, i still wouldn't want them to win. Because at that point, they would have essentially sold themselves out in the music world and will have become another sell-out, commercial band that everyone loves for 5 seconds, then forgets them the next. And they are definitely WAY too good for that.

All mainstream awards are becoming meanlingless, but...

...they exist! Who is watching them? They don't speak for all of us. The Dixie Chicks won a bzillion Grammy awards last year, and I can't stand them! (I like good country even, just not those chicks!) Despite that, this possible Grammy win could open the door for more audiences to check HIM out! HIM is an absolutely brilliant band, and that longevity, talent and fan base is rare nowadays where everything is instant, self-gratification and brief!

Good luck to HIM! HIM and MCR are the only reasons to give a crap about the Grammys in 2008!

We saw HIM live in Los Angeles, went to the music video and signing. Both my girls and I had a blast. Katie, age 7, is the new generation of HIM fans! <3

Of course we would all be happy for them if they made it. But the way the judge the Grammy winners these days, most don't deserve it. They lack the brilliance that HIM has. And while it would be good because they raise the standards, but there are plenty of crappy bands to lower the standards back down again.

I do think you are right about that aspect...I know so many wonderful deserving bands that never make it while others get by on youth and looks. That said, if I never change one aspect of my music and it get popular, people will STILL say I sold out just because it was now accepted, even if my music stayed the same -- that isn't fair either, is it? One can't assume all popular bands sold out, although I do agree that 90 percent of the stuff is just crap made by people who had to have their vocals and music fixed with Pro-tools--At least we both know that Ville can sing live- and Linde, Mige, Berton and Crazy Gas are one hell of a live band-can I get an Amen on that * high fives you* LOL * "Be yourself, cause those who matter don't mind, and those who mind, don't matter" Dr Suess

its not really a compliment. it would have been wonderful if they got nominated from the music not the wonderful packaging. thats more of an insult if u think about it. thats not worth it. but still hope they win for the sake of it.

Grammy Nomination is always an honor

We don't live in a perfect or fair world. I think any acknowlegement is a good start for HIM becoming more mainstream, and their music being enjoyed by more people! The Grammys are such an honor. I hope HIM WINS!!! As a very creative artist VILLE is probably excited. He is an awesome singer, performer, songwriter, artist, etc. VENUS DOOM has incredible music and the package does seal the deal. I love all of the HIM band members & hope they are proud of their nomination.

i think you guys deserve far more. I find this nomination a bit insulting considering what was really of stunning quality and amazing beauty was the music found within the lovely packaging...but...considering the Grammy's are a load of shit...i won't take as much offense to their neglect of an amazing artist. The Grammy's have never been about talent...just sales. Either way maybe it will lead more to you and there can't be anything wrong with that...but still you deserve more! <3 u.

Being fans for so many years it was most exciting to have HIM in Los Angeles, CA last month. We saw the concert, making of "Bleed Wll" video and went to the signing. We lost sleep and time from work. Even though the filming for "Bleed Well" went quick, after the long hours of waiting---it was worth it! Honestly though, we can't choose 1 song---we love all of HIM's music-just awesome!!
BTW Burton is also reallly HOT live!

Oh my goodness! Finally! Like others have said, this is something that has long been overdue. But I'm glad that they're getting the recognition they deserve. And even if they don't win, they would still be the most amazing band in my eyes. Good luck guys!
