On November 2nd, 2008 Deftones' bass player and brother Chi Ling Cheng was involved in a horrific car accident which has left him in a semi-conscious state. In his journey to recovery, the Cheng family has accumulated an overwhelming amount of medical bills that insurance does not entirely cover. As a result, it is Deftones' mission to raise substantial funds to help ensure Chi's recovery. To help achieve this goal, the band will be playing two benefit shows in November 2009 at the Avalon in Hollywood, CA. Additionally, for supporters unable to make these shows, Deftones has also launched this online auction to make available another opportunity for fans and friends worldwide to make a donation to the Trust.
All net proceeds will go to the Chi Ling Cheng Special Needs Trust that has been set up by the Cheng family to help pay for the growing medical costs required for Chi’s survival and recovery.

I think I'm crazy enough to bid, but....
I've got some questions about the trip and no one to ask. I live in the US, but at the present time, no one I'd want to take along is free. The week before or the week after, sure! Oh well.
Traveling alone is no problem for me, even though I haven't been to Finland yet. I know I'll meet people, always do.
A question for people on this who aren't going yet, but would like to, if I bid, any ideas on finding a person to take the other ticket? I'd like to meet some fans from other countries, but there'd be no obligations or expectations about hanging out, etc. Not set against it, just kind of neutral.
This may sound crazy to do, coming alone, but I need a break from the current craziness that's my life lately.
If anyone knows how I'd go about doing some upgrades to the flight and accommodations, depending on what they are, could you send me a message at

Deftones are on the same label as HIM. Many of the donated items are from other artists on the label from many different genres. The fact that it's happening now has nothing to do with the new album. The charity concert and auction have been in the works for months and simply coincided with when the new album's promotion began which was actually scheduled around Friday the 13th and Ville's birthday.
Yeah, you're super great people...
...oh, and by the way, the new album's out soon incase anybody didn't know...this guy had this accident last year, why wasn't this done at the time?..because they didn't have anything to promote then, that's why...how nice for the family of this guy to see him used like this for your own personal gain..give yourselves a pat on the back...
