very disappointed...
Hey fellow HIMsters!!!
I am very disappointed with the new album... very predictable... poppy, repetative, etc... maybe 2 songs i like... in venere veritas and acoustic funeral. I heard Scared to Death is their next single, very very poppy... perhaps making an effort for more fans and certainly can't blame them for that but still disappointed.
I actually heard Ville Valo in an interview today that he was second guessing this album and not very happy with it's outcome. My opinion is they shouldn't have hired that bitch-ass Matt Squire... HE SUCKS!!! Anyways bad album but still can't wait to see them @ Irving Plaza!

Once again I was surprised by V's genius. Great Album. Amazingly different. Simply love it and I just can't stop hearing it.

Finally got the album by mail, but only the double CD limited addition. Didn't get the Screen Print yet. But they said that they might arrive separately 'cause they are in different boxes.
PS: Dying Song, Katherine Wheel and especially Ode to Solitude are absolutely genius songs. The rest are great. Didn't like Disarm Me, Love the Hardest Way, In the Arms of Rain, and Shatter Me With Hope much though... but hey, 9 out 13 are absolutely amazing. Great album.

Screamworks, Deluxe Edition
I received my copy of the deluxe edition today, i had already been bought the single cd edition. Really wanted to hear the acoustic versions of the songs, so i decided to get the deluxe edition to. How beatiful the acoustic versions are, and how much sadder the songs sound without the upbeat musical accompinement. I love both cds, wich suprises me, because i really can't compare this to any of their other albums, apart from the style of lyrics, it is totally different. I really can't fault any of their work, i love them, thankyou guys, listening to your songs brings me so much pleasure.

For me, and as always, Screamworks is just a perfect album.
It is a kind of different, but that means that they worked harder and they don´t want to do the same stuff over and over again and in my opinion that is a good thing!! And one thing is for sure they have kept their essence and they are still unique! That´s way this album is great and the more you listen, the more you love it. This is an album to be remembered for a long long time. It´s soft, sweet, sensitive and melancholic. it takes you on a good dream... Thank you for this...

SCREAMWORKS: Love In Theory and Practice, Chapters 1-13, is one Fantastic
album. I always thought they were good before, but this album is the one that
is going to make millions for the band & skyrocket them to stardome, but Ville, Mige, Burton, Gas & Linde are all ready BIG stars in my eyes. I love all of the songs, but the three that stand out for me the most are: Scared to
Death, Catherine's Wheel,and In The Arm of Rain. Thanks Ville Valo, for making me that the world is still worth dying for love & to keep holding on to my dreams!!!!... Love you & all of the members of the band, but you have touched

About the new album...
It seems like there's something for everyone. For me Heartkiller sounds like basic HIM song, Shatter me with hope is a bit hevier case, scared to dead is poppier stuff and Foreboding sense is socmpletely different. New musical style is bit confusing, but HIM hasn't ever done "two same albums", so it was understandable why they wanted to do album like this. Venus doom is possibly the heviest album they've done, so this more electronical album is just a part of natural progression. Talking about the new album, it's interesting...

BREATHLESS
I received my copy yesterday and I've heard it a lot of times.
Every time I hear it I'm falling in love in a different way: a sound that surprises me, an intonation in Ville's voice that moves me, every melody is etched in my memory.
My senses are stimulated as possible to receive so much talent in few minutes.
And what about the acoustic CD "Baudelaire in Braille"!!! Yo can't ask more...It's like Ville whisper us the lirycs to the ear. Soft and tender.
I close my eyes and I could imagine him with a guitar in his hands, writting songs. These same songs that reach into our hearts, without permission, sweeping away with all their strenght full of sensitivity wich they are made.
It seems impossible that in just over 47 minutes you might forget the bad moments and you only perceive the good vibes that transmits this album: melancholy distilled into drops of contained joy.
Ville, be happy in your calculated imbalance and keep writting in this way. We appreciate you forever.

Venus Doom/poppy
You have just prompted me to listen to my copy of Venus Doom, i was interested that you thought it was poppy, to be honest i have been so enamoured of the digital versatile doom dvd, wich contained a fair few tracks off venus doom, that i had only listened to the album itself once. I don't agree with you that it is poppy, i think screamworks is moreso, though i still love it, but thankyou for making me listen to it once more.

Agree, Venus doom was everything but not poppy. This new album is great, perfect but so much poppy so much pro-Amerika that sometimes it makes me sad.. wheres the good old HIM? I understand that Ville has gone through some changes, right, but still.. I miss the old Him sound.. But still, its a great album and I think it will have a lot more fans as other albums before.

Very disapointed with Warner Bros. Ordered item in December and paid for it. I still havent received it. All ive got is the artwor. Not the main product ive been waiting for. the CD. Not a happy person.

Youu guys are very harshh. His entire work has just been building and building. give villie a little break. it mayy be enamered with commercial pop and flare but his voice, attitude and messages are all there. sit down read his lyrics & start googling. See his lyrics through his eyes not your own. Open upp to the catchyy, it will only make memorizing his lyrics easier. i knoww no one will care nor will villie or the band ever see this but PLEASE villie continue on. i see where your going & youu will be the divinity of love one dayy.

i agree with the comments that this is the strongest lyrical HIM album. i don't dislike the songs, i love the acoustic cd songs. my issue lies in the fact that it like looking at art through a piece of plastic. you know the good is under it if they would just quit tryin to make it look shiny. part of what i loved about this band was the lack of them sounding commercial. leave it to corporate america to shellac a Monet. maybe we will be lucky and get a live album or cd out of the tour.
I think i will just keep the acoustic cd :)

I Blame The Producer!
Lyrically awesome as always but the sound is too poppy and not HIM's style at all. The reason for this is explained in the interview part 3 with Matt Squire. He tells us that he deconstructed the songs and got the lyrics, key and/or melody changed. What an arrogant tosser! Way too much interference which has ultimately produced an album way below HIM's usual standard. Next time guys don't let anyone change your music - just get a decent sound engineer to mix it and it'll be perfect as usual.

Not very impressed..
As a HIM fan, I don't think this as a great album..maybe average..or below average..I dont see any songs that stand out frm the album. Also the music pattern sounds repetetive..shifting to different tones in every lines without a proper music...lyrics are also not deep as before...Anyway, hope they will come out with a better album next time.

From listening to every album, I can hear how older fans would not like Screamworks. I don't agree with them, and I can't truly relate, but I can hear HIM's changes in each album.
I personally adore this album, but I do not think it's their best.

I love the new album and I especially love the special edition acoustic. I wanted to get some HIM merch while I was getting the cd but Hot Topic only had 1 HIM shirt. Really??? They have Taylor Swift and Lady Antebellum but no HIM??? Ridiculous.

The band is brilliant.
So,there are negative comments concerning this album.
But ofcource there would be,not everyone will love it.
It is a little disapointing to see how much peoole "hate" it.
Of cource we all miss HIMs dark,meloncholic beautiful love songs.
BUT,that doesnt mean they have to stay with that same tone for years.

This is his first sober album.This is ville as his raw self.
Not only that,hes writing about post-love.
This album is about a relationship gone wrong,not being in love like past songs.
How do you expect ville to write about love like he used to when hes going through stuff?
The band has changed,and so has their music.
Maybe in the future,theyre next album will sound more like the other ones.
Maybe then,their fans wont claim to hate their songs.
But I,like many others love,and appreciate this album,and them.
