The opening visuals set the scene for this most beautiful angst song 'Wings of a Butterfly'.
Ville and not lets forget the rest of the HIM crew play lulling you at the start with what might be construed as a power ballad but this child is more. Its a hybrid. Powerful lyrics with burning riffs. Wonderful! There is beauty in angst.

ok i read a comment that said this song was about ville wanting someone to rip out the wings of a butterfly to save his soul but those are not even the words. hes almost taunting someone by saying "come on show them your love" to show love by destorying something so beautiful to save your own soul is not love but well evil and in the end doing such a act to save yourself will only damn your soul. this soul is so meaning full and has so much depth that one must be at some form of inner-inlightment to understand it. its complex. hes saying i know you. you would destroy something so beautiful to save your self and call it love. he calls it a crime and in some parts even appears to be the butterfly when he says crawling and heaven appears in their eyes. such as being wingless and crawling towards your death. i love ville valo. his writings and voice are epic. i love you ville.

I just read on another site that Ville has lost his faith in love and that is so sad and I just want to say that nobody should lose there faith in love I know I certanily haven't and that I have faith that He will find his true love his soul mate just don't give up hope entirely yet I know she is out there somewhere for you just keep looking........

haha he looks llike billy idol with dark hair in this. in my opinion. I hated HIM until i saw their dvd where they talked about why they do music, now i respect them and love what they do... Since I listened again with an open mind. Where I am from this was the only song played of theirs, and its my least favorite, so I thought they were another dime a dozen gothy band. I have stood corrected now that I have heard all of their material. Great stuff. It is very musical, which most new music is lacking if you understand what I am meaning. I am so thankful there are still musicians out there doing it for music not just money and fame. Those musicians get my heart forever.
That's cool that you've came to respect them. I've never heard of someone doing that.. Or not a lot. The only people I know who have always hated HIM are ignorant people who don't have time to give a wonderful band a chance. They're not vulgar whatsoever, I've never heard a single cussword in any of their songs so far. It's hard to find a group like that nowadays.
